Interview with Jorge
Being an intern at Henkel, what do you like most about it?
Henkel takes you out of your comfort zone which enables you to grow. Purchasing of packaging materials is a vital area due to its large spend which creates the opportunity to simultaneously improve the sustainability and the profitability of the company.
What is the greatest learning you will take home after your internship at Henkel?
My greatest learning is to always look for every alternative, analyze the information and then decide. When dealing with an issue, the solution isn’t always evident so it’s important to keep persistent. Purchasing at Henkel gives you many alternatives and infrastructure, so there´s no need to limit yourself.
Do you consider Henkel as a future employer and why?
Yes. I like the fact that purchasing brings projects full circle, allowing you to work with marketing, legal, supply chain and research and development which gives you a complete overview of the company’s processes from start to finish.
What is the biggest fun factor while working at Henkel?
Purchasing is constantly interacting with other areas. This enables you to learn from them and understand what the purpose is, not just for your area, but for the organization as a whole.
What is unique about working at Henkel?
Working at Henkel is unique because interns are given real responsibility and are expected to own up to their work. Part of the internship at purchasing of packaging materials is sending quotes, analyzing the impact of price changes and finding alternatives, working on projects with research and development, and offering support with formal agreements.
Describe Henkel in three words.
Innovative, structured and organized.
