The company holds leading positions with its three business units in both industrial and consumer businesses thanks to strong brands, innovations and technologies. Founded in 1876, Henkel looks back on more than 140 years of success. Henkel’s preferred shares are listed in the German stock index DAX. The DAX-30 company has its headquarters in Düsseldorf, Germany. Henkel employs around 53,000 people worldwide, around 85 percent of whom work outside of Germany. As a recognized leader in sustainability, Henkel holds top positions in many international ratings and rankings.

In the fiscal year 2018, the company reported sales of approx. 20 billion euros and an operating profit of around 3.5 billion euros (adjusted for one-time gains/charges and restructuring charges).

Henkel Adhesives Technologies India Private Limited

Henkel in India operates in two business areas: Adhesive Technologies and Beauty Care, both in the business-to-business realm. It has two legal entities in the country; namely, Henkel Adhesives Technologies India Private Limited (a wholly owned subsidiary of Henkel) and Henkel Anand India Private Limited (a joint venture company of Henkel and Anand Group).

Headquartered in Navi Mumbai, the adhesive technologies business has a footprint comprising 8 manufacturing sites, an innovation center, a product development center and a flexible packaging academy while the Beauty Care business has 5 Schwarzkopf Professional academies. It employs approximately 1,000 employees across these sites.

Henkel is the name behind many well-known brands such as Loctite, Bonderite, Technomelt, Teroson, Aquence, and Schwarzkopf. The company offers a multitude of applications and services to satisfy the needs of different customers.

Three globally operating business units

The Adhesive Technologies business unit is a leading solution provider for adhesives, sealants and functional coatings for consumers, craftsmen and industrial applications. Henkel offers a multitude of applications to satisfy the needs of different target groups: consumers, craftsmen and industrial businesses. In 2018, the business unit generated sales of 9,403 million euros, 47 percent of total company sales.

In India, the Adhesive Technologies business is a market leader in adhesives, sealants and surface treatments. The business unit is divided in 4 Strategic Business Units (SBUs), each following its own business model, and targeting different markets and customers. The SBUs are:

  • Packaging & Consumer Goods business develops innovative and sustainable solutions for articles such as packaged food and beverages, diapers and hygiene products, plasters and bandages, clothes and shoes, furniture and much more.
  • Transport & Metal business provides customers in the automotive, aircraft, aerospace, and metal processing industries with outstanding system solutions, a comprehensive technology portfolio, and specialized technical services.
  • General Industrybusiness has been a leading supplier of state-of-the-art industrial adhesives and sealants, metal pretreatment technologies, metalworking compounds, and high-performance coatings to a variety of industrial markets for assembly, maintenance and repair.
  • Electronicsbusiness offers customers from the electronics industry a specialized portfolio of innovative high-technology adhesives and materials for the manufacture of microchips, electronic assemblies and thermal management systems.

Products from the Beauty Care business unit are available worldwide. Beauty Care stands for brand-name products in the fields of hair colorants, hair styling, hair care, toiletries, skin care and oral hygiene. Beauty Care is one of the world’s leading suppliers of hair-salon products. In 2018, the business unit generated sales of 3,950 million euros, 20 percent of total company sales.

The Beauty Care business in India offers Schwarzkopf Professional range of cutting edge hair care products through hairdressers and salons.The business focuses on providing hair dressers and salons with the wherewithal required to deliver hair care services efficiently.

Laundry & Home Care has always played an important role for Henkel: the company’s success story started with a product from this business unit. The Laundry Care business includes heavy-duty and specialty detergents, fabric softeners, laundry-performance enhancers and other fabric-care products. The Home Care portfolio includes hand- and automatic-dishwashing products, cleaners for bathroom and WC applications, and household, glass and specialty cleaners. Air fresheners and insect control products for household application are offered in select regions. In 2018, the Laundry & Home Care business unit generated sales of 6,419 million euros, 32 percent of total company sales.
